Does it follow the ACS, and will I receive updates?
Yes! The guide is organized around the applicable ACS topics, with codes for easy reference. It is a study aid—not a script of the exact questions your examiner will ask. Updated versions are emailed to you when revisions are released.
Is this the same as the MEI Checkride Study Guide?
No. This guide is for multi-engine pilot preparation; the MEI Checkride Study Guide is for multi-engine instructor applicants. The MEI guide addresses the instructor checkride, including the distinction between material you will teach and questions you will answer.
Who created this study guide?
Ava (@pilot.avabelle), a current airline pilot and E175 simulator instructor, created this guide. Previously, she served as a lead flight instructor and check airman at the University of North Dakota, where she administered 100+ certificate-granting checkrides and personally trained 40+ students with a 100% oral checkride pass rate. Her teaching, evaluation, and professional flying experience shape the guide’s practical approach to preparation.
What’s included, and is it a digital download?
You’ll receive two PDFs, a questions-only version and a separate answer key, plus a 3-week guided study plan. The guide includes scenario practice, common checkride weak spots, and mistakes to watch for.

Is this for a multi-engine add-on or an initial Commercial checkride?
This guide focuses on multi-engine add-on preparation, using the ACS tasks for adding an Airplane Multiengine Land rating to an existing Commercial Pilot certificate. It helps you prepare for the oral questions and understand the areas covered on that checkride.
