What’s included in the MEI Lesson Plans?
You’ll receive editable PDF lesson plans for multi-engine instruction, student questions and scenarios, worksheets with answers, and PowerPoint versions of selected lessons. The material includes practical one-engine-inoperative (OEI) scenarios to connect your teaching to real-world flying.
Are these for my MEI checkride or for teaching multi-engine students?
Both! Use them to build lesson plans & prepare for your MEI checkride, then as a reference when instructing multi-engine students. They’re a starting point to personalize—not a script to memorize.
Who created the lesson plans?
Ava (@pilot.avabelle), a current airline pilot and E175 simulator instructor with Boeing 737 and Embraer 175/190 type ratings, created these lesson plans.
Previously, Ava served as a lead flight instructor and check airman at the University of North Dakota (UND), where she administered 100+ certificate-granting checkrides and personally trained 40+ students with a 100% oral checkride pass rate.
Her experience teaching, evaluating, and flying professionally shapes these lesson plans, helping you explain concepts clearly, connect them to real-world flying, and teach with confidence.
What’s the difference between the MEI Lesson Plans and the MEI Checkride Study Guide?
The lesson plans help you prepare what you’ll teach. The MEI Checkride Study Guide helps you practice the questions you’ll be asked, using mock oral-style questions and a separate answer key. They support different parts of your preparation and are sold separately. The study guide is not included with these lesson plans, but they will be automatically bundled if both are added to your cart!
Can I customize the lesson plans for the airplane I fly?
Yes! The PDFs are editable. Add your own examples, adjust explanations, and tailor aircraft-specific details using your airplane’s POH/AFM. Make the lessons your own, then practice teaching them in your own words.
Are the lesson plans ACS-aligned, and will I receive updates?
Yes. The MEI lesson plans are ACS-aligned, and updates are included. Updated versions are emailed to customers when revisions are released.
Does this purchase include CFI and CFII lesson plans?
No. This purchase includes the MEI lesson-plan set. CFI and CFII lesson plans are available separately, or you can get all three sets in our CFI/CFII/MEI Lesson Plan Bundle.
